Overview:
While visiting the state of Assam, Kaziranga National Park is the top place to visit. The park is the reserve of the largest population of the One-horned Rhino. It was declared as one of the World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, the national park hosts many other animals, such as the Asiatic elephants, leopards, Royal Bengal tigers, wild water buffalo, and many more. Kaziranga is also the home to one of the world’s largest population of tigers.
Apart from the mammals, the park is also the home to different types of birds as it is an accessible migratory location for various birds that fly to Kaziranga during the summertime.
Kaziranga is popular amongst tourists because of its safari facilities. People take the tour of the reserve through adventurous safaris conducted throughout the day. You can take the safaris at a different time of the day- the early morning safari, the afternoon safari, and the evening safari. The safaris will give you a complete tour of the Kaziranga, covering different areas during each safari, allowing you to closely witness the wildlife in its pure form in its natural habitat.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day1:
After arriving at Guwahati airport or the railway station, you will directly proceed to the Kaziranga National Park (220Km, 5Hrs). Declared as a heritage site by the UNESCO, the national park is the home to more than 80% of the population of one-horned Rhinos of the world. At the national park, you will check-in to a resort which will be amidst the wildlife, and you will stay in close contact with nature. Later in the evening, a cultural show will be held along with a performance of tribal dance performed by the locals. You will stay the night in the resort.
Day2:
Today your day will begin with the wildlife exploration at the Kaziranga National Park. Waking up early, you will spend your day at the national park. You will enjoy your first elephant safari tour of the Kaziranga in the central zone called Kohora. The Kohora region of the park has the maximum density of one-horned Rhino. The safari will eventually lead you closest to the wildlife through the narrow path of the National Park within the Elephant Grass. The central region of the park is the perfect place to spot different species of birds such as the pelicans, storks, darters, etc. as the place is surrounded by several water bodies and covered with a mix of grassland and woodland suitable for birdlife. After a satisfying morning safari, you will come back to the resort for breakfast and some rest.
After breakfast, your safari will resume the tour of the central part of the park. This time you will enjoy your safari by riding in an open jeep. The jeep safari will also give you the same exposure to witness the wildlife as close as riding on an elephant. Your wildlife sightseeing will include catching the sights of rhinos, hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants, and tigers. After the second half of the safari, you will come back to the resort for lunch.
Post-lunch and some rest, you will start with the day’s final jeep safari. This time you will explore through the western part of the Kaziranga. The route that you will follow will include Bagori – Dongabeel – Rowmari – Rajapukhuri – Monabeel along the bank of River Mori Diffalu. Your final stop for the day will be the top of the Donga Watch Tower from where you will witness the entire Kaziranga National Park and the wildlife. Later in the evening, you will come back to the resort to spend the night.
Day3:
The next day you will spend exploring the eastern range of the national park known as Agoratoli in a jeep safari. This part of the reserve is woodland famous for its wide variety of birds and a large population of the elephants. While exploring Agoratoli, you will make several stops such as the Shola water body and at the Shohola Tower for a panoramic view of the wildlife. After the visit to the tower, you will be back to the resort for some savoury lunch and rest.
After some delicious lunch, you will resume your safari with a tour of the central range of the park. You will be visiting the watchtowers of the area, namely Kathpora Tower, Daflang Tower, and Kerasing Tower, for a complete view of the Kaziranga. Later in the afternoon, you will come back to the resort. In the evening you can take a local tour around the neighbouring villages to get a first-hand experience of the livelihood of the people living there. At night you will come back to the resort and spend the night there.
Day4:
Waking up early in the morning, you will devote your entire day to observe the birdlife at Kaziranga. You will start your travel with your packaged breakfast to the Burapahar range of the park. You will either walk inside the Burapahar range or trek from the camp at Pani Juri with some naturalist or forest guards. After reaching the Brahmaputra River, you will walk further inside the famous Burapahar. While walking through the range, you might encounter some Capped Langurs, Elephants, Great Indian Hornbill, or some Hoolock Gibbon on your way. After a long adventurous walk, you will come back to the Pani Juri camp and drive back to the resort for lunch.
Post lunch, we will take a Jeep safari inside the central range of the Kaziranga National Park to increase our chances of mere wildlife sighting. Later return to the resort after an eventful day for dinner and overnight stay at the resort.
Day5:
With the fifth day, your Kazinranga tour will come to a happy and satisfying end. After breakfast, you will proceed towards the airport or the railway station to catch your ride back home.
