Overview:
If you have a more extended weekend than usual, you can always go out for a short trip somewhere nearby. The serene town of Mukutmanipur is just 6hrs away from Kolkata, located on the junction of River Kumari and Kangsabati in the district of Bankura. . Hills, streams, and forests decorate the undisturbed beauty of the place.
Another quick drive from Mukutmanipur is Bishnupur, another tranquil town in Bankura. Besides the picturesque vicinity, the place is also renowned for its terracotta architectures, baluchari sarees, ceramics and handicrafts, and the endless rich culture, art, and heritage.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day1:
While visiting Mukutmanipur, which is about 6hrs (267kms) away from Kolkata, you can stay at our eco-tourism resort. After arriving, you might feel a bit tired, so you will freshen up and regain your energy after a delicious lunch at the resort. Post-lunch, you will take a boat ride on the confluence of two rivers Kangsabati and Kumari. You will visit Deer Park and enjoy the golden sun setting’s divine beauty at the end of the day from the Pareshnath Temple.
You will return to the dam lock gates and indulge in some shopping at the local handicraft shops in the evening. At night you will come back to the resort and stay overnight.
Day2:
Today you will travel for 70kms (1.5hrs) from Mukutmanipur and reach Bishnupur. During sightseeing around the town, you will visit different beautiful architectural temples made of terracotta slabs with epics inscribed on them, such as Rasmancha, Shayamrai Temple, and other temples along with Dalmadal Kaman (cannon).
In the afternoon, you can choose to have lunch at Bishnupur or in the village of Joypur. During your return to Mukutmanipur, you will en route to visit Panchmura, the village of the artists working on terracotta.
You will enjoy a folk dance program with bonfire and tea/coffee at your resort in the evening. You spend the night at the resort in Mukutmanipur.
Day3:
The next morning you will explore through the wild nature of the Jhilimili Forest. Your tour will begin with the dam of Kadam deuli located near Hatirampur. If you have a passion for bird-watching, then this will be the ideal spot for you.
The tour will continue with the Jhilimili Forest, also called as ‘Baro Mile er Jungle.’ You can enjoy a nature walk amidst tall green trees and witness the surroundings’ overwhelming beauty. You can also walk on the hilly terrain near Lake Sutan. In the afternoon, you will come back to the resort for lunch.
As it is your last day of this short trip, you can enjoy the evening in the resort, reconnecting with yourself. You can indulge in a good book, or you can sit silently, appreciating the natural beauty around the resort, engulfing it from all sides. If you are a sky-gazer, you can lay back and stare into the oblivion of the starry night sky.
Day4:
After having breakfast at the resort, you will check-out and be on your way to Kolkata after a lovely weekend trip.
