On this ten days trip, you will feel the rush of blood pumping through your veins every minute as you see, feel, and explore the stunning and impressive beauty that is hidden in such high altitudes. The journey uphill and downhill can both be strenuous and challenging, but every cell of the tired muscles often seems to give solace to the adventure seekers. As you will trail through Yuksom, Tshoka, Dzongri, and reach Goechala, you need to be cautious of the paths, filled with gravels and boulders and also the dense Rhododendron Forests. You must keep a check on your health as well since you will be at a high altitude with cold weather. But the green lush of meadows, the meandering streams, the spiraling roads, and the stunning lakes are sure to make this holiday the most aesthetic as well as an exciting one. The destinations of Thangsing will give you the best camping experience under the starry night sky, and the Samiti Lake will be a blissful sight to witness when the water reflects the image of the mighty mountain. This trekking will be one of the best conquests that you will store in your memory forever.

Day to Day Travel Slate:

Day1:

On your arrival at the Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station, you will be received by our representatives and transferred to Yuksom. It will be a journey of 160 Km for 8 Hours. Yuksom is a small village located in the western part of Sikkim. It is rich in culture and heritage and will be the base of our entire trekking. On arrival at Yuksom, you will check-in to the hotel or guest house. Today you will take proper rest to reserve your energy for the Trek tomorrow. After your dinner, overnight stay will be at Yuksom.

Day2:

Yuksom, often denoted as the “third eye of Sikkim,” holds a great historical significance as it was the old capital of Sikkim and a religious site for Buddhists. The journey of Yuksom will start from the local market and follow the main road towards the north. The roads then fall off the lap of the valley and run along the right bank of the Ratong Chu River. The river gives an extraordinary audio-visual effect, as you can see the splendid beauty making a gurgling sound through the ravine. Bakhim is a small establishment that lies towards the north-west and has a charm that fascinates most travelers. You will have a steep rise towards Bakhim, after crossing the four bridges. These bridges lie above deep gorges and are a complete satisfaction for adventure lovers. While you trek along this path, you can enjoy small refreshments and snacks to boost your energy. Next, you will continue for another 3 km through a forest of Magnolia and Rhododendron to reach Tshoka. On your arrival, a campsite will be set for dinner and overnight stay.

Day3:

Today, you will pass through the village of Tshoka to continue your ascent towards the north. It will be a 3 hours trek to reach the height. You will pass through the forest of rhododendron to the alp of Phidang at an altitude of 3650 m, which is quite a crucial point of our trial. These forests are fascinating to look at as they make a dense, colorful collage of trees with their pink and red flowers. Dzongri is one of the best campsites of this trip encompassed within the steep slopes and magnificent scenic beauty. After 3 hours trek, you will reach the campsite to enjoy your dinner and overnight stay for the day at Dzongri.

Day4:

You will spend this day to rest and acclimatize. You can preserve your energy while enjoying the magnificent snow-capped mountains by climbing up to Dzongri Top. This is the favorite spot of most trekkers because of the panoramic views of Kabru and Ratong and it cannot be missed. The stunning sunrise at Kangchenjunga will capture your soul and give you the most ecstatic sights as they gradually change their color. Koktang, Pandim, and Narsing at 6147 m, 6691 m, and 5825 m heights respectively are also some of the highest peaks with extraordinary views. Dzongri is the best part of the trip as it provides you fruit for all your enthusiastic trekking. You blissfully get to spend your day amidst the clear sky and the cool weather of the high altitudes. Towards the end of the day, you will also witness the well-known Singalila Ridge, located towards the Western Region, that separates Sikkim from Nepal. With the day coming to an end, dinner and overnight stay will be in tents.

Day5:

This day will begin by proceeding from Dzongri and heading towards the east, leaving the right bank behind. The path after mounting the hill, descends into the valley, crossing the bridge over the Prek Chu river. As you keep climbing to higher altitudes, you need to be cautious of your health and retain your energy enough for the trial the next day. Thangsing, our next spot located at an altitude of 3800 m, is on the slopes of Mt Pandim. It is the most mesmerizing campsite located by the bank of the river and gives an enchanting experience to spend your night under the starry sky. It will take an hour to reach our campsite, and then dinner and overnight stay will be in tents.

Day6:

From Thangsing, we will slowly escalate towards the north and run along a meandering stream and an exuberant alpine meadow. With an hour’s climb from Thangsing, we will reach Onglathang. Onglathang exhibits a breathtaking view of the southern face of the mighty Kanchenjunga. On entering this popular spot early, you can capture the clear picturesque views. Next, you will trek through a series of glacial moraines and head towards the meadows to reach the emerald lake at Samiti. Although the temperature increases at such a high altitude, but the solace for trekkers to finally reach one of the most popular destinations is immense. The Samiti Lake hypnotizes with the beauty as it mirrors the Mt. Pandim in its clear waters. Upon reaching the campsite, dinner and overnight stay will be in tents.

Day7:

Today is the day when all your efforts will bear fruit, and you will find ascent to Goechala, your final trek point. It will start with a gentle slope towards the east for about half an hour and then rise steeply. You will trace the glacial moraines to the north-east and meet a dry lake at Zemathang. And after a 400 m conquest against the hurdles of rocks and boulders, you will finally reach the top of the pass. The pass is an indentation between Pandim and the Kabru spurs, which leans over the Talung Valley and showcases a splendid view of the southern face of Kangchenjunga. Goechala is a difficult and long trek with a very high altitude, and the cold weather is bound to be a barrier. But all the hard work pays off when you reach the final point. By afternoon, you will return to the enchanting Samiti lake again. The downhill can be a little slippery because of dews, so you need to be careful. Dinner and overnight stay will be in tents near the lake.

Day8:

Today, you will start retracing steps back to Thangsing, which will take a few hours. Descending will not take much time, but the graveled, and rocky slopes can be a challenge that you will face. From Thangsing, you will head back to Kokchorung, located at the height of 3800 m, which acts as a good camping site. You can rest and catch your breath for a while there, as your muscles will need relaxation after the strenuous Trek. Next, with a bypass route directly connecting, you will retreat to Tshoka. Dinner and overnight stay will be in tents in Tshoka, where you need to have a good rest to continue the trek downhill.

Day9:

Today will be your last day of trekking, and you will backtrack towards Yuksom. It will be an easy route as it is mainly downhill. From Yuksom, you will drive to Darjeeling, and on the way, notice the beautiful monasteries and Buddhist architectures that you are leaving behind amidst the snowy peaks of the majestic mountains. On reaching, you will check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
