Overview:

Ladakh is a high-altitude plateau located at the feet of the Great Himalayas and the Karakoram Ranges. Its ancient name is Maryul, meaning ‘red ‘land’or ‘low ‘ land’, distinguishing it from the higher Tibetan plateau. Ladakh is bestowed with natural beauty. In its west is the Vale of Kashmir, to the south Himachal Pradesh, and the Indus River bisects the plateau, shaping oasis in the small villages of Ladakh. The most prominent of these is Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Ladakh also has a contribution of La-Tags — ‘Land of the High Mountain Passes.’ These impossibly high passes over the forbidding mountains, which trans-Himalayan caravans, monks, and mountaineers have crossed with determination over centuries, are the main attraction for the adventure-seeking tourists. In this trip, you will come across some of the very popular passes like Khardung La, Zoji La, and Chang La and experience the best views from their high altitudes.

Day to Day Travel Slate:

Day1:

You will take the morning flight from Kolkata to Delhi. There will be a little layoverinDelhi, and again after that, you will take a tripfor Srinagar. On arrival at Srinagar, our representatives will receive you, and you will be taken toSonamarg, which is a 3 hours drive. Overnight stay at Sonamarg.

Day2:

Today,  After breakfast,we will go sightseeing at Sonamarg. Sonamarg, which means ‘Meadow of ‘Gold’is an interesting tourist spot. It is at a distance of 79 km from Srinagar and is situated at an altitude of 8950 ft. It has beautiful scenery of snowy mountains and green valleys by the banks of the Indus River. The major attraction during summer months is the Thajiwas Glacier. In the evening you can enjoy shopping atthe Local markets inSonamarg. Then you will be back to your hotel for a night stay at Sonamarg.

Day3:

After breakfast, we will leave Sonamarg and be on our way to Kargil that will take approximately 8 hours. On our way, we will cross the Zoji La Pass, and via Drass, we will reach Kargil. Drass is the second coldest inhabited place in the world and has earned quite a reputation as a tourist spot. By evening we will reach Kargil, and you will spend the rest of the night there.

Day4:

After a healthy breakfast, we will set out for the local sightseeing at Kargil. It is a historical location of the battleground of the Kargil War in 1999. You can enjoy the scenic beauty, sitting on the banks of the Suru river. And in the evening, explore the local markets of Kargil.

Day5:

Today, we will head towards Leh, which is a10 hours journey approximately. On our way, we will visit Mulbekh village, where the ancient statue of  Maitreya Buddha, carved out of a single rock, is situated. Then we will also come across Lamayuru village that is famous for the Lamayuru Monastery. The villages of  Saspol and Alchi are also well known for their ecstatic views. On this journey, you can feel how Mother Nature rules over these places, which are still untouched by Modern Industrial life. On your arrival at Leh, you will check into the hotel and spend the night at Leh.

Day6:

After breakfast, we will drive for the local trip to Leh. This trip mainly consists of the ancient and renowned monasteries, and you can enjoy their cultural and architectural magnificence.  We will visit Hemis, which is famous for the Hemis Monastery. Then we will head for the Thiksey Monastery, which is renownedfor its historic architecture. After that, you will visit the Shey Monastery or the Shey Palace, which is an ancient structure located on a reclusive hillock in Shey. Next, we will be attending the Spituk Monastery, where every year, the Spituk Festival is celebrated by the Gelukpa order of monks. After that, we will leave for The Hall of Fame, which is a museum built by our Indian Army to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the country. The last two destinations for the day would be Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. The Shanti Stupa looks spectacular when illuminated at night. And the Leh Palace gives a stunning view of the mountain ranges and the surrounding towns. After visiting the Leh Palace, you will return to your hotels for an overnight stay.

Day7:

Early in the morning, we will leave for Nubra Valley via KhardungLa  Pass, which is the highest motorable road in the world (18,380ft). The Nubra Valley is one of the best campsites in Ladakh. Its long stretched dunes and Bactrian camel rides are very popular. With the highest battlefield in the world, Siachen Glacier at 98.7 km north, Nubra Valley provides some stunning views. The camel safari in Hunder is also one of the popular activities in Nubra Valley. Overnight stay at Nubra.

Day8:

After breakfast, today, we will drive from Nubra Valley to the Turtuk Village. It is not a very popular village, but it has a beautiful history. This village is still not very well developed. You can enjoy spending your time amidst the enthralling landscape and indigenous culture. The apricot trees add to its beauty. Walking along the paths and learning about their culture while talking to the local inhabitants will touch your heart. After a satisfying day, you will return to Nubra Valley for an overnight stay.

Day9:

Today, after breakfast, you will again leave for Leh. You will drive back through Khardung La while enjoying the spectacular views of the twirling roads up the mountains and along the valleys. You will spend the night in Leh.

Day10:

Today, after a tasty breakfast, we will leave for Pangong Lake via Chang-La. Chang-La is a high, mountain pass, and the third-highest motorable road. Talking about Pangong Lake, it is situated at theheight of 14,270 ft and is the highest saltwater lake in the world. Its mesmerizing views can compel you to spend the entire day gazing at it. This lakeis known to appear in different colors during different times of the day. The sky full of stars at night and the sunrise at dawn will be the best experience during this trip. You will spend the night at Pangong Lake.

Day11:

Today we will head back to Leh from Pangong. Traveling along Chang-La,whichis located near the border of China, we can experience its fascinating snow-covered beauty from the high altitudes.With this incredible journey through Chang-La, you will be back to Leh in no time. You will spend the rest of the night at Leh.

Day12:

We will start our journey to Tso-Moriri Lake early in the morning. En-route visit Chumathang village, which is famous for its hot springs. We will also visit Sumdah village on the way and continue drive to Tso Moriri Lake, which is a breeding ground for migratory birds. The sunset at Tso-Moriri is something that we call “Picture Perfect,”and it shouldn’tbe missed. After that, overnight stay at Tso-Moriri.

Day13:

Today, we will travel back to Leh. On the way, the color-changing landscapes and its panoramic views will be your companion. And with this beautiful ride, you will be back to your last destination of this trip. You will spend your night in your hotel in Leh.

Day14:

Today, you will get ready to catch your early morning flight and go to Delhi from Leh. There will be a layover at Delhi, and then you will fly back to Kolkata, with a lot of adventure and experience and some of the best memories of your life.
