Overview:
The most unexplored or the virginal state of Arunachal Pradesh rises from the plains of Assam, along the Tibetan border. The state has various post-card worthy beautiful destinations which remain least explored, such as the river valleys as the banks of the River Kameng, Bhalukpong, and Dirang; the hub of the Buddhists, the town of Tawang and the town of Bomdila with impressive views of the Himalayas.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day 1:
After arriving in Guwahati, you will check-in to your hotel. After lunch, you will visit the famous temple of Kamakhya. You will have the rest of the day to yourself. You will be spending the night in Guwahati.
Day 2:
In the morning, you will start with your journey to Bhalukpong (240kms, 6hrs), via Tejpur. After having lunch at Gabharu shiv mandir, you will take a local tour around Tejpur and visit places such asBamuni hills, ChitralekhaUdyan, Da-Parbatia, District Museum, Oguri hill, PadumPukhuri, and Agnigarh. Later after arriving at Bhalukpong, you will check-in to the hotel and spend the night there.
Bhalukpong, a place of natural beauty, is located on the banks of River Kameng with a dense forest surrounding it. The place is an ideal location for hiking, trekking, camping, and fishing. Apart from being the nature-lovers’ retreat, Bhalukpong is also the haven for many wildlife and exotic species.
Day 3:
After breakfast, you will take a local tour around Bhalukpong before heading to Dirang. In Bhalukpong, you will see the Tipi Orchid Research Centre, Sessa orchidarium and later proceed for Dirang (135km 5Hrs). On arrival, you will check-in to the hotel and rest for the rest of the day and spend the night in Dirang.
The small town of Dirang has pleasant weather throughout the year and is a river valley located on the banks of River Kameng. Tourists usually visit the town en-route to Tawang.
Day 4:
In the morning after breakfast, start with the journey for Tawang(135km 5hrs), via Sela pass (13700 ft) andSela lake. You will check-in to a hotel in Tawang and spend the night.
Tawang is the hub of many incredible monasteries. It is a beautiful town with picturesque views all around. The place is of great significance to the Buddhist monks as it is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso.
Day 5:
The next morning after breakfast, you will be out exploring the town of Tawang. You will visit the Pangateng Tso lake and the Madhuri (Sungester) Lake. After lunch, you will take a tour of the Tawang Monastery, Golden gompa, handicrafts centre and watch the light and sound show at the war memorial in the evening. You will spend the night in Tawang.
Day 6:
Early in the morning, you will be heading to Bomdila from Tawang (180 km6Hrs).On the way, you will stop to visit Nuranang (Madhuri falls) and proceed for Bomdila.
Bomdila offers majestic views of the Himalayan range and the surrounding natural beauty. The town is also the abode of many Buddhist and Hindu temples. The visitors of this town often indulge in trekking and hiking complemented by the spell-bound picturesque sights around.
In Bomdila, you will visit the Bomdila Upper Monastery. Later come back to Dirang and spend the night at the hotel.
Day 7:
On the last day after breakfast, you will proceed to the airport or the railway station in Guwahati to board back home with everlasting memories of the trip to Arunachal Pradesh.
