Overview:

Sikkim, the mountain kingdom, is one of the fascinating states of North-East India. Dramatic landscapes and splendid valleys enclose it. This place is far from the hustle-bustle of the crowded cities and is the best destination if you are looking for a natural gateway. In this weeklong trip, you will come across monasteries, temples, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and more, adding to the mesmerizing beauty of this journey. The remote villages of Lachen and Lachung that are situated at high altitudes provide exquisite views of towering snow-peaks of Kangchenjunga and Gurudongmar Lake. The vibrant Rhododendron Valley, the grazing Yak in a pasture, hot springs and the base for exploring Alpine valley of Yumthang and Yumesamdong, will be some of the best experiences of this journey. Amidst sightseeing at every location, you are sure to have a wonderful holiday and make memories of a lifetime.

Day to Day Travel Slate:

Day1:

On your arrival at NJP/Bagdogra, you will be greeted by our representatives. After that, you will be transferred to Gangtok, which will take about 5 hours. Then you will check-in to the hotel and spend the evening shopping at MG Marg. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day2:

Today, after breakfast, we will visit Changu lake, which is filled with water of melted snow coming from the surrounding mountains. It is an oval-shaped lake with a depth of 50 feet, and during winters, it freezes into a snowfield. You can enjoy its serene beauty along with some snacks and beverages from the stalls nearby. Next, we will visit Nathu La, which is located at the height of 4,310 meters approximately and is surrounded by Alpine trees. It is considered one of the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. Our last place of visit for the day will be Baba Mandir. It is a shrine made in honor of an Indian Army Major “Baba Harbhajan Singh.” It is believed that Baba’s spirit protects the soldiers posted in that area. You will spend the night at Gangtok.

Day3:

After breakfast, we will spend the rest of the day sightseeing at Gangtok. Our first destination will be the Tashi Viewpoint, which gives a 360-degree view of the city of Gangtok and offers a panoramic view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga. Gangtok has several viewpoints, and Hanuman and Ganesh Tok are some of the best. Ganesh Tok, which is 7 km northeast of Gangtok and Hanuman Tok that lies 4 km above it will be our next stops. After that, we will visit the Enchey Monastery, which is a religious center and belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism. Our last destination, before lunch, will be Dodrul Chorten, which is regarded as one of the most important stupas of Sikkim. It is a golden-domed stupa located on a hillock, which can be observed from various parts of Gangtok. After lunch, we will have visit Rumtek Monastery, which is the epitome of Tibetan architecture. It is a famous Buddhist monastery with a picturesque background of the majestic hills and stunning waterfalls. You will also visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which is world-famous in its research of Tibetan language and culture. It has a serene ambiance, and you can spend your time exploring the museum on its premises.

Day4:

After an early breakfast, we will proceed to Lachen, which is a 120 km journey for 5 hours. Lachen is a small town located at an altitude of 8500 ft. It is also the base for the popular Green Lake trek. On your journey, you will travel through small villages with valley forest groves of Langchuk. You will be passing through Singhik, which is located at an altitude of 4000 ft and provides one of the best views of Kangchenjunga. After that, we will have lunch at Singhik and then proceed to Chungthang. We will also come across the surreal beauty of the confluence of Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu Rivers and the beautiful Vimnala Waterfalls on the way to Lachen. We will reach Lachen late in the afternoon and check-in at the hotel.

Day5:

Today, after early morning breakfast, we will drive to Thangu village. It is a remote village of the Tibetan nomads and is located at an altitude of 13,450 ft. Then we will proceed to Chopta valley, which is at an elevation of 13,124 ft. There you can witness the breath-taking views of the Alpine valley and Frozen Rivers. From Chopta Valley, we drive for another 30 km, and after a 1.5 hours journey, we will reach Gurudongmar Lake. This is a sacred lake at an altitude of 17143 ft., which is situated near the Indo-Tibetan border. It is one of the highest and biggest freshwater lakes in Sikkim and is known for its mesmerizing scenic beauty. Soaking in the magnificent beauty of the lake, return to Lachen and check-out from the hotel. After that, we will head from Lachen to Lachung via Chunthang, which is about 50 km and will take 2 hours to reach. Lachung is another high altitude remote village of North Sikkim with towering snow-peaks, and it is the base for exploring the Alpine valley of Yumthang and Yumesamdong close to the Tibetan plateau. Check-in and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day6:

Early morning drive to Yumthang, which is 24 km and at an altitude of 11,800 ft. It is often known as “The Valley of Flowers” in North Sikkim. It is a fascinating valley completely covered with Alpine flowers. You can enjoy the scenic landscape and hot springs and then drive 30 km further to Yumesamdong, which is located at 15,503 ft. It is also known as the “Zero Point,” which lies close to the Tibet border, and is one of the highest motorable roads in Sikkim. You will spend the day at Yumthang valley and then drive back to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day7:

As your journey comes to an end, you will transfer to NJP / Bagdogra with happy memories to cherish.
