Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day 1:
After reaching Guwahati, you will travel for another 3hrs (100kms) to reach Shillong.
The capital city of Meghalaya, Shillong, is a famous picturesque hill-station. Often called the ‘Scotland of the East,’ Shillong offers amazing sights, landscapes, cool weather, and jovial people and culture. The city hosts beautiful pine forests, mountain peaks, clear water lakes, and all other natural beauty.
In Shillong, you will check-in to your hotel and settle. The rest of the day, you will be free to relax. You will spend the night in Shillong.
Day 2:
In the morning, you will embark on the journey to Cherrapunji and reach there in 2hrs (60kms).
Cherrapunji, also called Sohra in Meghalaya, is famous for its picturesque natural beauty. The place once held the world record of the highest rainfall in a year, achieving the title of the ‘Wettest place on Earth’. The panoramic views of the place are enhanced by beautiful waterfalls, misty valleys, natural lakes, and caves.
In Cherrapunji, you will take a local tour around the city. You will visit the Limestone Cave and different falls, such as the Nohsngithiang Falls, the Dainthlen Falls, and the fourth highest waterfall of the world- the Nohkailikai Falls.
On your way to Cherrapunji, you will also stop to visit the famous Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls. In the evening, you will come back to Shillong after you visit Cherrapunji and spend the night in Shillong.
Day 3:
The next day you will be heading to Kaziranga. It will take about 6hrs (260kms) to reach there.
Kaziranga is declared as one of the world heritage sites by the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). It is located on the bank of the Brahmaputra River and is a well known national park. The place is the home of several rhinoceros, especially the one-horned rhinos. Apart from rhinoceros, the place is also a popular tiger reserve and hosts other rare species of animals and birds of the world.
After reaching, you will check-in to your hotel and relax after a long journey. You will spend the night in Kaziranga.
Day 4:
In the morning after early morning breakfast, you will engage in some day-long fun activities. You will start with an elephant ride and later enjoy a jeep safari through the famous Kaziranga National Park. After a fun-filled elephant ride and jeep safari, you will relax and engage in some bird watching. In the evening you will come back to the hotel and spend the night.
Day 5:
The next day you will travel to a small village from Kaziranga for about 8hrs (325kms).
Mawlynnong is a village located in the interiors of Meghalaya. The place earned the title of the ‘Cleanest Village in Asia’. Apart from its cleanliness, the village also has an attractive picture post-card scenery.
In Mawlynnong, you can also enjoy the breathtaking view of the Umangot River. Later in the evening, you will travel back to Shillong, check-in to your hotel, and spend the night.
Day 6:
After breakfast, your day will start with exploring the natural beauty and sightseeing around Shillong. You will visit the Wards Lake, Botanical Garden, Shillong Golf Course, Butterfly Museum, and the hub for indigenous culture- Don Bosco Center.
Later in the day, you will travel back to Guwahati, and in the evening, you will witness the Assamese history and culture demonstrated through light and sound show at Kalakshetra. You will spend the night in Guwahati.
Day 7:
On the last day of your holiday, you will drop by the last stop on your itinerary, the auspicious Kamakhya Temple, before proceeding to the airport or the railway station to return home.
