Overview:
You can spend your next holiday exploring the port-city of Kochi, the picturesque hill stations of Munnar and Kodaikanal, and the oldest city of India, Madurai. The southern parts of India have always been popular amongst the tourists, and you can choose to wander there too.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day 1:
After you fly to Kochi, you will check into your hotel and settle in.
Kochi or Cochin also referred to as ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea’ is a unique place that crawls with multiple cultures. The place has Indian culture and sprinkles of Portuguese and Dutch cultures as well. It is a hub for Chinese traders, but it also attracts travellers and explorers. Kochi is also a major port city of Kerala.
You can take a local tour around the city. You will visit one of the oldest European churches, the St. Francis Church, followed by the Dutch Palace or the Mattancherry Palace, which is a Portuguese mansion and the 450years old Jewish Synagogue, which is the oldest active Synagogue. Later you can go for a cruise ride to the harbor and catch a glimpse of the Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening, you will relax and enjoy live Kathakali dance performance.
Day 2:
In the morning, you will travel for 5hrs (126kms) and arrive at Munnar, often called as the ‘Kashmir of South India.’ It is a popular hill station in Kerala famous for its tea estates. After that checking you’re your hotel, you will relax for the day. In the evening you can go to the local market for shopping.
Day 3:
The next morning you will take a local tour around Munnar. You can enjoy a speedboat ride at the Nattupetty Dam, visit the tea gardens, enjoy the scenic beauty at the Echo Point and explore the Rajamalai National Park, also known as Eravikulam.
Day 4:
Today you will leave Munnar and head to Kodaikanal (5hrs, 166kms) after breakfast. Kodaikanal, popularly referred to as the ‘Princess of Hill Stations’, is a picturesque hill station crawling with cliffs, waterfalls, and cool romantic weather. You will check into your hotel and later visit Kodai Lake. You will spend the night in Kodaikanal.
Day 5:
After having your breakfast, you will start with your day-long tour around Kodaikanal. You will first visit the Green Valley View and enjoy the gorgeous view of Kodaikanal. Your trip will continue with the Kurinji Temple, the beautiful Thalaiyar Fall, and Silver Cascade Fall, the Devil’s Kitchen. Your last stop for the day will be the Pine Forest. In the evening you will be free to explore the local markets for shopping. You will be spending the night in Kodaikanal.
Day 6:
In the morning you will travel to Madurai. It is a 3hrs journey (115kms), and after reaching, you will check into your hotel.
As one of the oldest cities in India, the place is also the Cultural Capital of Tamil Nadu. The city hosts several cultural heritage sites and many ancient temples. This pilgrim town is also a hotspot for tourists as it serves them with popular cuisine, architecture, and shopping plazas.
Next, you will explore around Madurai and enjoy the local sightseeing. You will visit the famous Meenakshi Temple, ThirumalaiNayakar Mahal, the Vaigai Dam, AlagarKoil, Meghamalai, and lastly, the Samanar Hills. You will come back to the hotel in the evening and spend the night in Madurai.
Day 7:
The next day post breakfast, you will be on your way to the airport to return home with heartful full of memories from the trip.
