Overview:
Travelling through different parts of the Dooars region at the foothills of Himalayas will give you the memories and experiences of a lifetime. You can wake up to the picturesque views of the quaint villages of Batabari and Simlabari, surrounded by forests and mountains. Take shorttrips through the unique and ecologically rich sites of Panijhora, Sikiajhora, and Jhandi. You can also witness the wildlife at the Gorumara National Park and get the chills while spotting tigers, rhinoceros, bison, and many others up close.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day1:
On arrival at NJP / Bagdogra, you will be taken to Batabari or Tilabari tourist lodge. After that checking in, you will have the rest of the day to yourself for relaxing.
Day2:
In the morning after breakfast, you will be on your way to the famousGorumara Forest for a jungle safari (by Jeep or elephant). Famous for the Asiatic one-horn rhinoceros and tigers, this place is a real treat for every adventure enthusiast. Later in the evening, experience the traditional tribal dance and spend the night at the lodge.
Day3:Transfer to Simlabari (18 Km from Hasimara).
At Simlabari, you set out on another jungle safari (by Jeep or elephant) through Chilapata Forest. Other than safari, you will be experiencing Tonga ride (carriage ride) through tea gardens and witness the confluence of the rivers Kalchini, Bania, and Buri Basra.
Day4:
On this day, you will travel to Panijhor, a lesser-known place at Dooars, but it is a unique village where three ‘jhoras’ (streamlets) come out from the North-West of Buxa. It is close to Rajabhatkhawa. Later in the day, visit the village of Jayanti, which will offer an outstanding view of the scenic beauty all around the place and then take a trip down the history of Buxa at the Buxa fort. Your day will come to an end with a perfect evening occupied with a tribal dance performance of the Rava.
Day5:
The next day you will take a trip to Sikiajhora, a 9 Kms distance from Alipurduar. It is a popular destination among tourists because of its unique concept of boat safari, which you will be taking in the afternoon to explore the less trodden parts of the Buxa Forest.
Day6:
In the morning, you will visit Jhandi via Gorubathan. It is a 5 hours journey. Jhandi is a new found offbeat destination. A serene and beautiful valley famous for its view of the Mahananda River Valley, the mighty Kanchenjunga, Samabeong Organic tea garden, and some Himalayan birds.
Day7:
On the last day of your trip, you can spend the entire time relaxing in Jhandi. The visit to Lava is optional. You will be spending the last night of the trip toJhandi.
Day8:
In the morning after check out, you will be transferred to NJP / Bagdogra, and from there, you can set off on your journey back home with wonderful memories of the trip.
