Overview:

The little town of Munsiyari, located in the district of Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand, has captured the heart of tourists over the years. The ‘Little Kashmir,’ positioned on the borders between India, Nepal, and Tibet, has the best panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas. The 7380ft. of high altitude, the perfectly calm weather, and the picturesque natural beauty of the surroundings give the tourists an appropriate destination for trekking. Munsiyari also attracts various species of migratory birds and is a heaven for bird-watchers and nature-lovers.

The town also is a window into the lives of its locals. Even today, the people preserve and nurture the culture and traditions of the Bhotia Tribe.

Day to Day Travel Slate:

Day1:

After arriving at the Kathgodam Railway Station or Delhi Airport, you will travel for another hour (36Kms) and reach the famous North Indian hill station, Nainital. You will enjoy a local tour around the beautiful city after checking in to a hotel. You will take a tour of the Nainital Lake on a boat ride, followed by a shopping spree at Mall Road beside the lake.

In the evening, you will come back to the hotel to relax and call it a day. You will spend the night in Nainital.

Day2:

Today, you will leave for Kausani, another magnificent hill station with a grand view of the Himalayan Range, just 3.5hrs (117Kms) away from Nainital. Some of the well-known mountain peaks seen from Kausani are Choukhamba, Kamet, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, Maiktoli, Nandadevi, and Panchachulli. Here you will take a historic visit to the famous Gandhi Ashram. Gandhiji was amused by the scenic beauty of this place and compared it with Switzerland by calling Kausani as “the Switzerland of India.”After that, you will go to another place, the Tea Garden at Pinglacot, from where you can get some good quality green tea for yourself or some other organic products such as white honey, apricot oil, jam, etc.

You will stay overnight at Kausani.

Day3:

In the morning, you will leave for Munsyari,a 6hrs (165kms) long journey. This will be the last hill station on this trip. Munsyari is engulfed by the beauty of several snow-capped mountain peaks such as Nandadevi, Nandakot, Rajarambha, and Panchachulli.

In Munsyari, you will first visit the Nandadevi Temple. Following that, your next stop will be the Tribal Museum, which will give an insight into the history of the place and the people.

Before visiting the famous Madkot village, you will make a stop at the Darakot market from where you can purchase winter wears made out of rabbit hair. The last destination for the day will be Madkot village, well known for the hot springs. In the evening, after a long day, you will come back to the hotel and rest. You will spend the night in Munsyari.

Day4:

After breakfast at the hotel, you will start with your hiking to the forest of Betuli Dhar, where you can rest for some time and engage in some bird-watching. From there, you will head towards Thamri Kund. To get acquainted with the history, culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Bhotia tribe. You will draw an end to this lovely trip with a visit to the quaint village of Sarmoli. There you will get to know a local farmer and his life story from being a farmer to becoming the owner of a homestay.

At night you will come back to the hotel and spend the last night of the trip to Munsyari.

Day5:

With your extraordinary trip and a beautiful experience coming to an end, you will be transferred to Kathgodam or Delhi to catch your ride back home.
