Overview:
A trip to the Bishnoi village will be an experience of the lifestyle of the people of Rajasthan. You will be exploring through several nearby villages, which will give you a window to witness the livelihood of the villagers, their culture and traditions, and most importantly, their occupations, such as pottery, fabric printing, weaving, livestock raising, etc. In their work, you will be able to see the true Indian art.
The Bishnoi Village is not only rich inculture and handcrafts, but the place itself looks glorious. The Bishnois are the protectors of nature and wildlife. As staunch nature-lovers, about 400 Bishnois sacrificed their lives while trying to protect their forests, in the heartbreaking incident of the Khejarli Massacre.
As Bishnoi Village is an oasis, the beauty of the magnificent nature engulfs this part of the state of Rajasthan.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day1:
To reach Bishnoi Village camp or resort, you will arrive at the Jodhpur Airport or railway station and take a 1.5hrs drive to the camp (25kms). After checking in, you will enjoy some refreshments and take a rest.
In the afternoon, post-lunch, you will take a trip to Potter’s village and try out some pottery yourself. You will receive a complete demonstration and also the assistance of the potters. After a wonderful and unique experience, you will come back to the resort.
Your evening will be filled with fun and entertainment. A local Rajasthani folk program will be held for you with delicious traditional Rajasthani cuisine. After a satisfactory evening, you will spend the night in Bishnoi Village.
Day2:
The next morning after taking a good breakfast at the resort, you will take a tour of the surrounding regions. Your first stop for the day will be the Shepherd’s Village, where the residents only maintain animal husbandry, raising goat, sheep, camel, etc. for livestock. Followed by that, you will next visit Gudha Village to witness wildlife in their natural habitat. There are mainly desert animals such as Antelopes, Gazelle, Dommisile cranes, Wild Rabbits, Blue Bulls, Migratory birds, Peacocks etc. Here you will also meet some Bishnoi families and see their look livelihood.
In the afternoon, you will return to the resort for lunch and some rest. After that, you will travel to Kankani. The Kankani Village is famous for itsmanual block print business. Their work on different fabrics is a sheer form of art that will leave you in awe.
At your next stop, you will see some live manufacture of Durry (Rugs) at the Salawas village, popularly known as the Weavers Village. From here, you can also purchase the rugs.
In the evening, you will return to your resort at Bishnoi Village for the night.
Day3:
In the morning after breakfast at the camp/resort, you will be on your way to Jodhpur. From there, you can continue with your venture to the other popular parts of Rajasthan, or you can board a flight or a train back home with wonderful memories of a rural trip to the state.
