Overview:
A tiny country like Bhutan has an endless number of surprises to make the visitors fall in love with this place’s culture. Cradled among the mighty mountains, this land is blessed with an abundance of scenery and Buddhist monasteries, age-old traditions, and cuisine like no other with a mix of chilli and cheese and other spices. Nine days in this wonderful country will give you an experience like no other and not only will you travel, but you will also learn more about an entirely new culture. Seeing the Himalayas upfront, and from the flight itself till Paro will be a unique experience altogether, and visiting this land of bliss and peace will help you look at life in a new light after your travel.
Day to Day Travel Slate:
Day1: Paro – Thimphu
On arrival at Paro airport from Kolkata, our guide will help you proceed towards your vehicle for your journey to Thimphu,Bhutan’s capital. On your way to Thimphu, you will see the confluence of the two rivers of Bhutan, Thimphuchu and Parochu. You will be checking in to the hotel, and this will follow an overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day2: Thimphu
After an appetizing breakfast at the hotel, you will make your permit for entering Dochula, Punakha, Wangdue for the next morning. After that, you will get ready for Thimphu’s local sightseeing tour, which includes a visit to the BBS tower, SAARC building, Handicrafts emporium, Folk Heritage Museum, Simthoka dzong, and Thimphu Chorten. You will return to the hotel and then have an overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day3: Wangdue
On the 3rd day, you will have a drive to Dochula pass, which is 3080 meters high, which heralds the most enchanting panoramic views of Bhutan. Later an enchanting drive to Punakha, Wangdue, will take place, and you will visit the Punakha Dzong, which was built strategically at the junction of Phochu and Mochu rivers in the year 1963. You can spend the evening in leisure in the fascinating Punakha valley and then have an overnight stay at Wangdue.
Day4: Bumthang
You will drive to Bumthang via Trongsa, which is about 210 km, and a 9-hour travel. Bumthang is one of the most historic districts of Bhutan, with several ancient sites. You will have an overnight stay at your hotel in Bumthang.
Day5: Bumthang
After breakfast at the hotel, visit Bumthang Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang,Kurje Lhakhang, and Thamshing Lhakhang. Overnight stay at hotel in Bumthang.
Day6: Haa Valley (154 Km)
After a filling breakfast at the hotel early in the morning, you will depart for Haa Valley, the westernmost valley in Bhutan. On the way to Haa, you will catch a glimpse of the three shrines built in Nepali, Tibetan, and Bhutanese style, which were believed to ward off evil spirits, and then traverse left past Dobje Dzong, which is an ancient prison and now houses a monastery. This ravishing valley takes visitors back to a simpler era, with a traditional vibe, and the woody hills give travellers the perfect setting for hiking and mountain biking. There are quite a few walking trails in Haa, and biking can be done on the same tracks. It is an entirely traffic-free valley, and you can visit local areas of interest and village homes, which is an enjoyable way to spend the day. You will have an overnight stay at a hotel in Haa.
Day7:
After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed to Paro. Firstly, you will check-in to a hotel and go for local sightseeing, which will include a visit to Drugyal Dzong, getting a view of Mount Jhomolhari, and a visit to Kichu Lhakhang. In the evening, you can do some shopping at the Paro Market area and return to the hotel for an overnight stay at Paro.
Day8:
After a succulent breakfast at the resort, if you can brave the risky cliffs of a high mountain, Paro will bewitch you in the form of Taktsang Monastery. You will be covering about 1200 metres on this extremely beautiful cliff as you make your way to the monastery. The surroundings of the monastery have luscious green pine trees, and the mountain will make you swoon. The Taktsang Monastery had been established by Sain Guru Rinpoche, who came to Bhutan in 747 CE, and around 1694, the completion of this beautiful monastery had been completed. Making it to the Taktsang Monastery after 3 hours of trekking is very adventurous, but you may also go for a horse ride from the parking lot. Post this, you will return to the resort, and after a filling dinner, have an overnight stay at Paro.
Day9:
The trip comes to a bittersweet end, and you make your way to Paro airport for your return journey.
